Why We Do This
Our aim is simple: help everyone in Lerwick pay less every time they fill up. With about 6,709 people living in Lerwick, even 10% of them saving 1p a litre would keep about £4,721 a year in local pockets — and at 5p a litre, about £23,000.
That's money that can be spent with local businesses, on the weekly shop, or put aside for something special. Helping that happen is the whole point of this site.
Keeping your tyres at the right pressure and easing off the speed both save fuel — see our hints and tips.
Based on: population 6,709 (OpenStreetMap figure); 6,200 miles a year for an average petrol car (DfT National Travel Survey 2024, NTS0901); 40 mpg (our assumption) = about 704 litres a year each. Figures rounded down.
